Before taking Meridia
You should not use Meridia if in the last 14 days you have already taken:
• Furazolidone
• Isocarboxazid
• Phenelzine
• Rasagiline
• Selegiline
• tranylcypromine
Taking Meridia together with this medicine you can encounter serious side
effects.
Also do not take or start to take Meridia if you have:
• high blood pressure;
• anorexia or bulimia;
• a history of coronary artery disease;
• a history of heart disease;
• a history of heart attack or stroke;
We have put a list below, if you are in any of these conditions you should
tell your healthcare provider about it and he will adjust your dosage or run
some special tests.
These are the conditions:
• glaucoma;
• high blood pressure;
• liver disease;
• kidney disease;
• depression;
• underactive thyroid;
• epilepsy or seizure disorder;
• a bleeding or blood clotting disorder;
• a history of gallstones; or
• if you are older than 65 or younger than 16.
Meridia is considered to be pregnancy category C drug; it is strongly
recommended that you don’t use it when you are pregnant. Meridia may harm
your unborn baby, also do not take Meridia if you are breastfeeding.
How should I take Meridia?
You should take Meridia exactly as it is prescribed by your healthcare provider. It is recommended that you don’t take Meridia in larger amounts than prescribed, if needed your healthcare provider will increase your dose. Remember to follow the directions on the original label.
Meridia is taken one dose per day.
If you see, that your current dose does not bring good results, consult your
with healthcare provider, he will adjust your dosage and maybe run some
tests.
You can take Meridia with or without food.
When taking Meridia you should visit your doctor often for usual checks, so
that everything would go right.
Do not take Meridia longer that 2 years, if you feel that you cant stop
taking Meridia, contact your healthcare provider. He will lower your dose
and it will be easier for your to stop taking the drug step-by-step.
